• If you are married to a United States Citizen and entered the country legally you might be eligible to file for your green card at the same time you file your I-130 petition. This is true even if your status has expired and you’ve been living in the United States without legal status.

• Your green card is proof of your status as a permanent resident in the United States. That status never expires, even though your card might.
